Development of Multiparticulate Formulation and Evaluation of Colon Targated Drug Delivery Systems

Abstract

Development of multiparticulate for colon targeting focuses on the potential opportunities newlineand challenges available in new area of colon targeted drug delivery system. Colon targeted drug newlinedelivery system can be used for thetreatment of various diseases related to colon such as newlineinflammatory bowel disease, Crohn s disease and colon cancer. newlineThe present work deals with the formulation of colon targeted multiparticulate drug newlinedelivery of NSAID (Ketoprofen), anti-bacterial (Ciprofloxacin) and anti-neoplastic (5- newlineFluorouracil) drugs. The literature survey indicate that these three drugs mentioned above are the newlinegood candidate for colonic delivery and therapy and no work was reported for their colonic newlinetargeting through multiparticulate DDS using experimental design technique. Hence an attempt newlinewas made to successfully formulate and evaluate multiparticulate DDS for colon delivery of these newlinedrugs in order to have bettersite targeting and hence bioavailability. newline
