An automotive drive shaft that transmits power from the gear box to the newlinedifferential gear of a rear wheel drive commercial vehicle is usually manufactured in newlinetwo pieces in order to increase the fundamental bending natural frequency because it newlineis inversely proportional to the square of beam length and proportional to the square newlineroot of specific modulus The conventional shaft consists of three universal joints a newlinecenter bearing and a bracket which increases the total weight of automobile and newlinedecreases fuel efficiency In this context a comprehensive approach to design new newlinedrive shafts with composites as material is found to be essential This necessitated the newlinedevelopment of a composite drive shaft to meet various functional and performance newlinerequirements newline newlineen_US
