| Abstract: | The tricalcium phosphate Ca3PO42 TCP is a well known newlineresorbable bioceramic material widely used in medicine and dentistry as newlinesmall unloaded implants powders and coatings The inferior fracture newlineTCP ceramics is the most serious obstacle for the loadbearing newlineapplications The present work is aimed to produce strengthened newlinetricalcium phosphate TCP based resorbable biomaterials that can be used in newlineloadbearing applications newlineTCP powders were prepared by newlineaqueous precipitation technique using calcium hydroxide and orthophosphoric newlineacid The bulk density of the sintered TCP compacts were found to decrease newlinewith an increase in the sintering temperatureTCP to TCP phase newlinetransformation was found to occur at 1250 C A maximum Vickers hardness newlineof 416 GPa was observed for the sample sintered at 1150 C newline newline |
