dc.description.abstractnewlineTraditional design technologies and flows required that hardware newlineand software be specified and designed separately for embedded system newlineOnce the behavior of a system is fixed the specification needs to be coded in newlinedifferent languages For example HDLs Hardware Description Languages newlinefor the hardware and typically C C for the software The software or newlinehardware partition can be done by profiling the specification or legacy newlinesoftware code However the partitioning is often pre determined and defining newlinea system partition apriori could lead to sub optimal design create lack of newlinea unified hardware software representation lead to complexities in the newlineverification of the entire system performance result in incompatibilities newlineacross the hardware software boundary and require time consumption due newlineto rewriting an entire code in HDL newlineen_US
