Abstract: The recent technological developments in the fields of electronics transportation medicine and HVAC systems have resulted in the pressing need for a performance enhanced cooling heating system An effective cooling heating system can be achieved by intensifying the heat transfer process which is an important task in the present scenario of the great demand for energy The performance enhancement of the cooling heating system is possible through many methods Due to rapid pioneering advancements in the field of nanotechnology in recent years a new concept of using nanoparticles with a base material has been attempted by researchers to improve the thermal transport properties of the base materials This consists of a base material and the suspended nanoparticles of size less than 100 nm Nanoparticles can be either nanopowders such as Al Cu SiC CuO etc or carbon nanotubes This concept of nanoparticle addition is introduced in the secondary refrigerants to augment the convective heat transfer coefficient of the heat transfer fluid in the chiller system and also to increase the thermal transport properties of the phase change material used in the storage based chiller system to study the possibility of enhancing the performance of the cooling heating system
