Recent advances in solid state technology have enabled the development of high and medium power multilevel inverters for industrial applications. The single phase induction motor is deployed to operate under AC supply with the source of multilevel inverter. It is well known that during DC-AC conversion process, there is problem of harmonic generation in the system. The most common cause of harmonics is non-linear characteristics of load with low input power factor. Additional consequences of harmonic newlinegeneration include power loss, over heating of components/equipment which results low efficiency. The main objective of this research work is to design and develop a systematic approach to improve the quality of power and power factor when the Induction Motor (IM) is operating with Multi Level Inverter (MLI). Power converters based Variable Speed Drive (VSD) has become today an unavoidable choice in almost every segment of industrial applications. There are innumerable modern and future designs which will incorporate the use of VSD as the primary source for motor control. It is also known that the power electronics makes the utilization of electrical energy more efficient, flexible and reliable as well as less expensive. newline newline
