dc.description.abstract | newline Due to the increase in Energy demand, there is the depletion of fossil fuels, rise in the price of oil and gas and increased environmental pollution. This critical context has led the researchers to find a better alternate to the conventional fuels. Eco-friendly Biodiesel is found to be the best alternative fuel and this can be produced from edible and non-edible oils. Biodiesel produced from edible oil will lead to the food Vs fuel conflict. newlineThe aim of the present investigation is to find a better replacement to edible oils. Also, to analyse the performance and emission characteristics by utilising the same in Direct Injection (DI) Diesel Engine. ProsopisJulifera(non-edible feedstock) is one of the important tree species in the arid and semi arid zones of the world. The fruits (Pods) of ProsopisJuliferawere cleaned, cracked and powdered before oil extraction. In the first phase of this work, Extraction of oil from ProsopisJuliferawas carried out by soxhlet apparatus using different Polar and non-polar solvents, solid to solvent ratios, extraction time period, and extraction temperature with respect to the Boiling point of the solvents. newline | |
