Abstract: | The term online shopping can be defined as buying and selling of goods and services through internet. The online shopping industry is growing in a multi-fold manner as it is evident from the fact that companies involving in the online business have witnessed billion of dollars in terms of Gross Merchant Value (GMV). Not only the GMV but also their overall business surged in an unprecedented manner across the developed and developing countries. Compared to the developed countries, the developing countries like China and India have a slight edge on the growth of online shopping business. According to the joint study conducted by Assocham and Grant Thortan, Indian online shopping market is growing at the rate of 63% and the e-commerce will attain the level of $39billion in the year 2016. In India, the growth of online shopping is witnessed across the cities which include Metropolitan, Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. The enhancement of business in the Tier 2 cities motivated the researcher to study the behavioural pattern of consumers of the cities. As enough research has been carried out by various researchers in the metropolitan cities in this aspect, the researcher considered Tier 2 city Coimbatore for his study. newline |
