Abstract: quotHygrophila salicifolia, Acute Toxicity, OECD, Column, HPTLC, Diuretic, newlineFurosemide, Anti urolithiatic, Ethylene Glycol evaluated as per OECD guideline 423. Anti- urolithiatic activity was determined for all newlineextracts using Conductometric titration and crystal growth inhibition in vitro. The anti newlineurolithiatic action of Hygrophila salicifolia (Acanthaceae) was determined by ethylene newlineglycol induced lithiasis. Isolation of compound was done by column chromatography newlineand identified by TLC and Shinoda test. It was characterized by UV, IR, NMR and Mass and newlinemelting point. Validation and Quantitation of isolated compound was done by HPTLC. newlineResults and Discussion: Pharmacognostical study provided various microscopic, newlinemacroscopic, physicochemical and phytochemical data. In the methanolic extract, urine newlinevolume and electrolyte excretion were remarkably increased as compared to control newlinegroup. We can deduce that Methanolic extract of Hygrophila salicifolia offered newlinesignificant diuretic effect than other successive extracts when compared to the newlinefurosemide. The LD50 of Methanolic extract of Hygrophila salicifolia was found to be newline2000 to 5000 mg/kg. Conductometric titration curve of Methanolic extract of Hygrophila newlinesalicifolia shifted towards lower side as endpoint due to a reduction in free ca+2 content. newlineAverage apparent length of growing crystals decreased in case of Methanolic extract of newlineHygrophila salicifolia in double diffusion gel study. Urinary parameters such as calcium, newlineoxalate, and inorganic phosphate level were raised by ethylene glycol whereas newlineMethanolic extract of Hygrophila salicifolia lowered down the raised level of these ions newlinein urine. Methanolic extract of Hygrophila salicifolia also increased urinary magnesium newlineconcentration while the raised concentration of serum creatinine was found to be cut newlinedown during the experiment. Methanolic extract of Hygrophila salicifolia was found to newlinereduce crystal deposition in renal tubules from the histological study. These results newlineobtained from the study confirmed the anti urolithiatic
