Abstract: | The main objective of the proposed research work is to enhancesecurity for reliable communication in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs).WSNs are composed of many tiny, low-cost, low-power on-chip sensorstypically; used in various applications like field monitoring, environmentalsensing, forest fire detection, habitat monitoring, patient monitoring etc. Asensor device comprises of four major components: sensing unit to sense theenvironment, communication unit for the purpose of transmission anddetection, microcontroller for processing the sensed data and finally loadedwith a battery. These small tiny devices have limited bandwidth and lesscomputational capabilities. Due to their limited battery power, lifetime ofthese sensor devices is also limited. With these limited capabilities making asensor node to work with certain security parameters is still a big questioningissue.A rapid change in wireless technology exploits more and morethreats from those who create vulnerabilities. Nowadays, WSN is attracted byboth academia and industry, but considering its distributed nature from the newlineearliest, WSNs are vulnerable to attack by adversaries targeting the data beingsensed or keeping track of keys and algorithms deployed. The research workcarried out in this thesis fully focuses on node capture attack over a sensorfield and provides a solution to avoid such attack from happening through newline newline |
