Certain Investigations on Economic Load Dispatch Problems Using Power Search Algorithm

Abstract

Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) is one of the crucial aspects in the powersystem network. It is the measure of allocating the required load to the onlinegenerating units considering various system constraints. The major objective ofELD is to minimize the fuel cost incurred for the total power generation. Thebi-objective Combined Emission Economic Dispatch (CE-ED) problem is theone, where environmental impacts from the emission of the environmentalpollutants of fossil fuel power plants are considered. The bi-objective problemaims at minimizing the fuel cost and emission simultaneously. In general, thepower system networks are designed with power balance equations and thegenerators are modelled with the help of quadratic cost functions in line with newlinethe output constraints of the generator.The non-linear, non convex type objective functions along with theequality and the inequality constraints make the ELD problem more practical.The evolutionary algorithms developed in the recent years exhibit better resultsparticularly for complex optimization problems. The global optimum solutions newlineare obtained using these algorithms, especially with non-continuous, nonconvexand large solution spaces. Recently developed algorithms are populationbased techniques, where the solution space is explored randomly with the helpof several candidate solutions. newline newline newline
