It is tall tree, leaves are arranged on branches as opposite or ternate impair pinnate and whites flower occupied in dense terminal downy panicle. newlineIn Thai traditional medicine, the leaves are used for external treatment of skin diseases. Fruits and flowers of Heterophragma adenophyllum, are cooked or as such consumed as fresh vegetables. The whole tree is widely used in traditional system of medicine. Folk medicinal uses of roots of Heterophragma adenophyllum are in piles, constipation and decoction is given in viper bite. newlineFrom the wood of the Heterophragma adenophyllum tree, a-Lapachone, a new symmetric naphthoquinone dimer and dilapachone constituents was isolated and from heartwood, a novel asymmetric naphthoquinone dimer and adenophyllone was isolated. newlinePharmacognostical study newlineMacroscopy: Fresh leaves were green in colour with faint odour. They were simple, with alternate phyllotaxy, obovate in shape and entire with cottony hair in margin. Apex was acute and pinnate reticulate venation, lamina 25-50 cm long and 10-25 cm wide, petiole was short with asymmetrical base. newlineMicroscopy: Microscopic results revealed upper and lower epidermis consist of single layer of epidermal cells; they are spherical to polygonal with straight to slightly wavy walls and glandular, covering and stellate trichomes was present. Covering trichomes was uniserriate and multicellular with sharp apex. Glandular trichomes were made up of unicellular stalk and unicellular head. newline
