In the realm of sewing threads, a considerable amount of work has been done by previous researchers. Sewing thread forms an important content of garments and contributes to the formation of the shell to the wearer. The appearance and matching of the designs are the prerequisites for a consumer to buy a garment. However, for the garment to serve its aesthetic and functional requirements in the usage stage depends on the performance of sewing threads to a large extent. In the current study, the scatter of strength and extension of sewing threads at different gauge lengths have been studied by Weibull modulus. Although Weibull statistics is intended for brittle materials, still it was used for other yarns made from cotton and synthetic fibres. The computation of Weibull modulus (m) and Weibull characteristic strength (and#61537;) was done by three different methods namely, linear regression, method of moments and maximum likelihood. The latter was estimated by using the appropriate newlinemathematical software or by writing a program in any programming language. Three types of sewing threads, namely, spun polyester, core spun polyester and filament were considered and they were tested for tenacity, extension and work of rupture. They were measured at different gauge lengths 12.7 mm, 25.4 mm, 76.2 mm, 127 mm, 254 mm and 500 mm respectively. Data were analyzed by the application of Weibull statistics. In the current research work, the equations were solved with Matlab software. Bending rigidity, drape, crease recovery and seam efficiency of plain, 2/1 twill, 3/1 twill fabrics have been examined with vertical seams. newline newline
