dc.description.abstractDuring the last few years, natural fibers have received much more attention than ever before from the research community all over the world These natural fibers offer a number of advantages over traditional synthetic fibers In the present investigation a study on the mechanical properties of a new series of filler added composites consisting of natural coir as a reinforcing material in a polyester resin based polymer matrix has been reported The locally grown Indian coir fiber has good potential as reinforcement for polymer composites The best way to raise the existing coir industry to a higher level is the development of new coir products for commercial applications One possible technology that could fulfil this goal is the development of Coir Polyester composites newlineIn the present investigation the mechanical behaviors of filleradded Coir Polyester composites were studied The hand lay up process was used for fabricating filler added coir polyester composites The fiber content of 24 and resin of 76 in weight were used in the preparation of the composites Various types of fillers namely calcium carbonate alumina and a combination of both were added separately and the mechanical properties newlinewere evaluated newlineen_US
