Abstract: High voltage gain and high efficient continuous conduction mode power converters are increasingly needed for many applications such as renewable energy systems, uninterrupted power supply, embedded systems, telecommunications etc. Classical boost converters provide high static gain but with extreme duty cycle. High voltage gain is also achieved with both isolated and non-isolated converters. Among non-isolated dc-dc converters, a family of dc converters with voltage multiplier cells with different topologies have been presented in the literature. Much works have been reported on high gain converters with different topologies and soft switching techniques. These works mostly focus on increasing the voltage gain, reducing the losses and improves the efficiency with zero current switching or zero voltage switching. But only very few works are reported on control of high gain converters to improve its dynamic performance. Hence in this work, an attempt is made to analyse the dynamics of single and multi level Voltage Multiplier Cells integrated boost converter and to design a suitable controller to improve the performance characteristics. Integration of VMCs in the classical boost converter increases the number of components which in turn increases the complexity in controller design. A reduced order model is proposed for VMC integrated boost converter. In this work, only two control parameters are used to regulate the output voltage and hence reduced number of sensors are required to control the converter. A high input current is observed in high gain converters during starting conditions. Hence a start-up control with an auxiliary diode is proposed for single VMC integrated boost converter. newline
