The Temperature is a variable in process industries that needs to be monitored and controlled within desired limit. The objective of the thesis is to compare the performance of two temperature process i.e., Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) and Heating Tank system. A state space model and a transfer function model are considered for the CSTR process. A First Order Time Delayed Model (FOTDM) is considered for the Heating Tank system. The controller receives the reference input and takes a necessary control action to minimize the difference between the set value and the actual value. In most of the controllers there is an error detector which is inbuilt. The controller output takes the control action through an actuator that manipulates the process variable to attain reference tracking. Temperature is a slowly newlinevarying in a plant of normal heating tank system. In case of the CSTR process temperature is a rapidly varying variable. The temperature of the process is measured using a sensor. The time domine specification such as delay time, raise time, settling time and Peak overshoot are calculated for the response of all the models. The plant has to be operated in steady state so as to maintain desired outcome of the process. The controller needs to be designed such that the delay time, rise time, settling time and peak overshoot are minimal. The reaction taking place inside the CSTR liberates heat energy ie., exothermic reaction. The CSTR considered for analysis has an outer jacket that is circulated with coolant. The coolant removes the heat liberated and sustains the reaction to occur. The flow rate of the coolant is one of the manipulated variables. The concentration of the reactant that flows in to the reactor has significant impact on the rate of reaction. The change in flow rate of the reactant is considered as the disturbance. newline newline newline
