Abstract: Materials from primary manufacturing processes, need further operation called machining to improve its characteristics. Machining is classified into turning, milling, grinding, drilling, etc. Among these, drilling is widely practiced machining process, due to the need for component assembly in mechanical structures. The identification of appropriate input parameters is essential for improving the productivity and quality. In the past three decades, the manufacturing industry has evolved tremendously. Competition among various industries has forced manufacturers to follow new approaches like manufacturing cost reduction, optimized resource utilization, development and utilization of newer materials having high strength to weight ratio, etc. These approaches lead to various measures and one among them is the determination of optimal machining parameters to achieve higher productivity with superior quality. Available literary resources in these areas of research are found to be inadequate for the newer materials. Time constraints have ruled out trial and error based experimental analysis. So, there is a necessity to identify the appropriate process input parameter in order to reduce the manufacturing time and consequent cost. The development of mathematical modeling leads to the determination of appropriate process input parameters resulting manufacturing cost reduction. In recent days, due to the progress of research in the area of materials, lots of newer grades have been emerged. But the machinability studies in the newer materials have to be done for the easy processing. Here an attempt is made in the same area, that is the identification of process input parameters of Duplex stainless steel 2205, Duplex stainless steel 2304 and Magnesium (Mg) newline
