Abstract: ABSTRACTS newlineIn recent times, nursing professionals have been insistently encouraged to be newlinecreative and innovative in nursing practices with the purpose of advancing nursing out newlinecomes. Creative thinking and innovation helps to meet different needs of patients and newlinetheir families, and thereby improve patient care outcomes and reduce costs to the health newlinesystem. In health care system, nurses are the chief professional component of front lineand#8223; newlinestaff. They regularly come across unanticipated situations requiring going beyond nursing newlineroutine and engaging in creative thinking to make apropos decisions. They are critically newlinesituated to deliver the creative and innovative solutions for present and forthcoming newlineglobal health challenges. Nurses around the world are involved in innovative work newlinebehaviour (IWB) on a regular basis. Nursing innovation is a major source of newlineimprovement for health care systems worldwide. Many of the nursesand#8223; IWB have newlinecontributed significantly to the progress in the health of patients, populations and health newlinecare systems. However, nursesand#8223; contribution to health care innovation is rarely newlinerecognized, publicized or shared and discussed amongst health care professinals. newlineThe current study explores prevalemce of IWB among nurses and how it is newlineperceivedby different stakeholders in the health care sector. It also examines the direct newlinerelationship between various individual and organisational factors and IWB. The newlineinteraction effects of leader member exchange (LMX) and burnout that impact the newlinerelationship between individual and organizational related antecedents and display of newlineIWB by professional nurses are also investigated. newlineThe study was conducted using the Explanatory Sequential Design. Quantitative newlinedata was collected through questionnaire administration from 844 staff nurses working in newline6 multi, super speciality private and charitable trust hospitals located in Mumbai, India. newline93% of the samples were females and only 4% were male with mean age of 26.79 newline(ranged from 21 to 53 years).
