Abstract: Energy is one of the most dominant requirements in the global scale. Todayand#8223;s global energy demand is significantly fulfilled by the fossil fuels such as coal and oil. The fossil fuel has restricted supply in the future and also plays the vital cause in the global warming. These restrictions direct the scientist and researchers to explore the sustainable and ecofriendly energy resources available in the world. Among the various energy resources, the energy from ocean attracts the researchers today. As 70% of the earthand#8223;s surface is covered by the ocean, the energy potential available in the ocean is surplus to power the entire world. A plenty of research activity is carried out in and around the world to explore the energy potential from the ocean resources. Thousands of wave energy converters (WECs) are developed and patented to harvest the wave energy. However, only a few of these devices have attained the stage of harvesting the energy in the real ocean environment. Particularly, a country like India, has a long coastal region contained an immense potential in the ocean energy resources. But the intensity of the energy in the Indian seas is less when compared to the Pacific and other regions in the world. The low energy intensity level combined with economic factors, leads to a barrier for funding agencies to provide funding in the ocean energy research. Due to the rise in demand for energy in the future and environmental issues such as global warming, research has to be focused on sustainable energy resources such as ocean wave and suitable mechanisms for harvesting has to be developed which is suitable for Indian seas. Supporting to this Amarkarthik (2012) developed a new concept of harvesting the wave energy and converting it into electricity.
