Abstract: | Recently, Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) is achievement popularity in the research area. It is self-organizing wireless and rapidly deployment network. The nodes in the network connect between them without help from any centralize administrator. However, each node works as a router and a host. The network topology keeps on changing that due to its dynamic characteristics. Routing protocol is the most challenging task in MANET that due to mobility, bandwidth limitation and power constraints. Therefore, it is important task to design an efficient and effective routing protocol that can adapt to their frequent changes in the topology of the network. The task of routing protocol is to detect and maintain optimal and reliable routes among the source and destination nodes in these dynamic networks. The primary objective of the routing protocol is to maximize network throughput and packet delivery ratio (PDR). In addition to minimize load, packet drops, routing traffic send, end to end delay, retransmission attempts and media access delay. newlineRouting protocols for MANET is classified into three main types as popular classifications are: Proactive routing protocols, Reactive routing protocols and Hybrid routing protocols. This thesis provide a comparative and simulation study of various MANET routing protocols such as Optimized Link State Routing Protocol (OLSR) in Proactive Routing Protocols, On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) in Reactive Routing Protocols and Gathering-based Routing Protocol (GRP) in Hybrid Routing Protocols to select the best routing protocol. The evaluation and comparison had been conducted in different QoS parameters like Delay, Load, Throughput, ect. Three cases had been considered in this research work that are: nodes density, various data types and various Transmit Power. Results obtained from simulations presented that AODV routing protocol (Reactive) had better performance than others. newlineThe OLSR routing protocol is proactive protocol, it is called a table driven, developed for MANETs. It is using Mul |
