Energy efficient distributed coverage Algorithm for target tracking in Wireless sensor networks

Abstract

The Energy consumption is the most important factor to determine newlinethe life of a sensor network as sensor nodes are usually driven by battery and newlinehave very low energy resources This makes energy optimization more newlinecomplicated in the sensor networks because it involves not only the reduction newlineof energy consumption but also prolonging the life of the network as much as newlinepossible This can be done by having energy awareness in every aspect of the newlinedesign and the operation This ensures that energy awareness is incorporated newlinenot only into groups of communicating sensor nodes and the entire network newlinebut also in the individual nodes Another requirement for sensor networks is newlinethe distributed processing capability This is necessary since the newlinecommunication is a major consumer of energy A centralized system means newlinethat some of the sensors need to communicate over long distances that leads newlineto even more energy depletion Therefore it would be efficient to process newlinelocally as much information as possible minimizing the total number of bits newlinetransmitted newline newline
