dc.description.abstractnewline viii newlineAbstract newlinePhotocatalytic removal of toxic organic pollutants like ciprofloxacin and bromate ions from wastewater is a challenge because of the relatively low efficiency of photocatalysts and stability of pollutants. There has been persistent interest in a variety of cheap, hybrid, and efficient nanomaterials for waste water treatment. In the present work, a novel photocatalyst Ag2CrO4/BiFeO3/RGO nano-heterojunction has been synthesized. An effective p-n junction is formed. The material shows higher solar harnessing, superior charge carrier flow, reduced recombination and spectacular photocatalytic activity. The junction was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Transmission electron microscopy, Vibrating sample magnetometry and UV-vis spectroscopy. A significant removal efficiency of 99.4% for ciprofloxacin in 90 min was achieved in solar illumination in and 100% bromate ions reduction. The material can be separated magnetically and can be used after repeated experiments. newlineKeywords: Ciprofloxacin, UV-Visible, ABR, RGO, Bromate reduction, photocatalysis.
