Abstract: | The research work is to fabricate a Doppler Ultrasound compatible flow phantom which is simple effective economical user friendly and to use the indigenously fabricated phantom to study flow dynamics by spectral analysis The phantom consists of a pumping mechanism to induce pulsatile flow of a blood mimicking fluid within blood vessel equivalent tubes The blood vessels of interest are brachial and femoral arteries The fabricated phantom acts as a flow model to educate or train a person handling ultrasound equipment on operation of the Doppler ultrasound machine controls and the effects of each control on the image It can also be used to check the hands on knowledge during practical examination A patient or a volunteer need not be troubled for this purpose Moreover this phantom acts as a Quality Assurance tool to assess some of the performance of the Doppler ultrasound machine and also acts as a research aid The objective was to study the influence of various factors such as viscosity percentage diameter stenosis lengths of stenosis cross sectional area of blood vessels on blood flow dynamics through artery models To study the influence of these parameters the change in ratios of Pre and Post stenotic Peak Systolic Velocities termed as PSV ratios obtained with respect to change in the parameter were assessed The magnitude and pattern of change in the PSV ratio with respect to pre destined values of the factors were quantified and analysed newline newline newline |
