Conventional temperature measurement instruments like thermocouple and RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) often fail due to sensor drift and issue of the hot junction, during their long-term operations. Also, their ability is to measure temperature in a single region of interest. These limitations are considered to develop an alternative waveguide based temperature sensors approach for different industrial applications. Hence the ultrasonic waveguide approach for distributed temperature measurement is of much interest. This Research describes novel techniques for simultaneous measurement of temperatures of solid structure (Pipe) and liquid structure (Distilled water) at multiple locations using a single transducer attached to a single bent waveguide. These techniques improve upon the earlier reported studies using straight waveguides and plain bend waveguide, where the non-consideration of the effect of temperature gradients was found to be a major limitation. This technique improves upon the conventional multiple thermocouples approach for multi-level temperature measurements. The range of temperature measurement is from room temperature to maximum utility temperature (85 °C for fluid and 200 °C for pipe). newline newline newline
