The popularity of internet and wireless usage, demands more data bandwidth and speed. People require a new frequency band, mode and services for the fast communication. Each mode requires its own radio and hardware set. For this need Software Defined Radio was developed. This radio challenges the design and implementation on the basis of its application. The software defined radio is a collection of hardware and software. All the base band function of the radio is designed by using software on a reconfigurable architecture. The functions of the radio can be changed at any time without disturbing the other functions of the system. The traditional hardware radio system is expensive due to its hardware components. Since the hardware components are replaced by Software functions, the cost of the system reduced whereas flexibility and speed increases. The main challenges of the software defined radio are the low power and speed of the system. newlineThis research work deals with the physical layer design of the Software Defined Radio. A new adaptive multi carrier modulation is proposed for the fastest communication. The multi carrier modulations are Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing and Multi Carrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access. The types of modulation are selected according to the Signal to Noise ratio of the system. The optimization of the system can be done by using Repeated Weight Boosting Search algorithm. newline newline
