Abstract: | Recently, the Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structure has been newlineintroduced as an effective inexpensive method for Simultaneous Switching newlineNoise (SSN) suppression in a wideband of frequencies. Due to the introduction newlineof various EBG structures to Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, it is possible to newlinesuppress SSN at various frequencies. There are varieties of techniques for newlinedesigning EBG structure for the suppression of any frequency in PCB boards. newlineThe focus of this thesis is on the planar EBG structure with meandered lines. newlineThe planar EBG with meandered lines structure is studied, simulated, fabricated newlineand measured.Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structure with novel meandered newlinelines L-bridge EBG structure and balanced slot EBG structure has been newlineinvestigated for mitigation of Simultaneous Switching Noise (SSN) in high newlinespeed digital printed circuit board assembly. The electromagnetic band gap newlinestructure is designed for a wideband operation from 300MHz to 15GHz. The newlineplanar structure can be used as high impedance surface to suppress EMI noise newlinefor EMC compliance conforming to electromagnetic compatibility standard for newlinemilitary equipment operating in the frequency range from 10KHz to 18GHz. newlineANSYS HFSS is used for the simulation of these electromagnetic band gap newlinestructures. newline newline |
