dc.description.abstractLeprosy is one of the dreaded diseases that has tormented humans throughout history leaving lasting impressions on religion literature and art Despite advances in the antibiotic therapy immunization sanitation and other therapeutic measures the Leprosy is responsible for the loss of a large number of manpower days Leprosy can exercise a strong influence on the behaviour of a leprosy sufferer and is widely prevalent in India Prevention of disability is one area that has been innovative with self care community and family involvement participation of groups of people affected by leprosy and the use of available affordable acceptable appliances such as footwear The high rate of suicidal thoughts by leprosy sufferers highlights the patients concept of disease and their way of coping This implies that the leprosy sufferer must receive physical and psychological support The study was undertaken to understand the psychosocial needs of the Leprosy patients The title of the study was to evaluate the Quality of life Psychological Distress Social Functioning and Family Burden among patients with leprosy in selected center at Bangalore and develop and validate an Educational module to enhance knowledge of patients with leprosy The Objectives were to evaluate the Quality of Life psychological distress social functioning and family burden among patients with leprosy in selected centre at Bangalore to assess the reliability and validity of translated instruments related to Quality of Life psychological distress social functioning and family burden and to develop and validate an educational module to enhance knowledge of patients with leprosy with an hypotheses of a standardized educational module for patients with leprosy will increase knowledge of patients and thereby improve quality of life Mixed design Descriptive design to understand the quality of life psychological distress social functioning and family burden of leprosy patients and One Group pre and post test design using before and after measurements to evaluate the-
