dc.description.abstractnewlineThe present research work involves experimental investigation on the workability and deformation behaviour of sintered ferrous powder metallurgy cylindrical preforms of different manganese content namely 0 20 0 50 0 70 1 00 with various carbon content of 0 05 0 10 0 15 0 20 0 25 by weight basis with two different aspect ratios 0 45 0 60 during cold upset forming with molybdenum di sulphide as die wall lubricant under triaxial stress state condition A common compaction pressure as 1 2 GPa and sintering temperature as 950 C were applied for preparing the composite preforms The deformation of the preform was carried out between two flat well lubricated open hardened dies on a Universal Testing Machine The incremental loading of deformation was carried out until the appearance of first visible crack on the free surface Initially and after each interval of loading dimensional changes in the specimen such as height top contact diameter bottom contact diameter bulged diameter and density of the newlinepreform were accurately measured The density measurements were carried out using the Archimedes principle newlineen_US
