dc.description.abstractKiln furniture is an important substrate for supporting the firing of newlineceramic articles with mostly the SiC, Mullite, Al2O3 being widely used. newlineHence, Cordierite is used as kiln furniture up to 1250 ºC in industry due to newlinelow economy in the manufacturing process. Many industries could use newlineCordieriteas kiln furniture such as tableware industries, earthenware newlineindustries, electrical insulators and many more because the prepared cordierite newlineshould not react with the products like Cup and saucers but supports during newlinesintering. So quality and colour of cordierite are the significant criteria in newlinetableware and hotelware industries.The basic reason for choosing cordierite insteadof other kiln newlineproducts due is its low cost of production and also its low coefficient of newlinethermal expansion. These provide longer life for the product during usage. newlineSilicon carbide does compete for major refractory properties successfully, newlineexcept the cost and Thermal Shock Resistance properties (TSR). newline newline
