Abstract: | Solar energy is India s one of the key energy resources. The predicted solar power potential in India is approximately 748 GW. A number of initiatives are being taken across the globe to reap the solar photovoltaic energy and India has targeted to obtain 100 GW by 2022. For this mission to be successful interdisciplinary studies considering sciences, engineering, social, cultural, economic and environmental aspects are essential. The existing interdisciplinary studies focus to create the alternatives towards sustainable development. In order to create a conceptual framework and to overcome the practical breach, a robust approach is followed in the current research that comes packed with policy agenda. Government departments have their own objectives, so do the technology developers, who work on different modus operandi. Ecopreneurs often worry about commercialization process since it is a cumbersome one to convert innovations to social and then to market economy. Economic principles, suggest that it is not easy to achieve this effect. But, as a start, India must come forward to ensure the presence of capital required for the projects in spite of the variability in the outcome and uncertainty in the solar energy sector. Energy economics has much studies related to technical performance, performance ratio and energy yield without concentrating its social and economic aspects. Since there is only limited information available for a solar PV system s actual operations and energy production, India must take action to clear any hindrances that act as barrier to reach its target. The primary barrier behind the popularization of solar PV energy system is high initial cost. So, one need to identify an optimum solution to arrive at realistic cost incurred in solar PV energy system setups. newline |
