Abstract: | The rapid increase of data traffic in 4G wireless systems tends to newlinedegrade the Quality of Service (QoS). Long Term Evolution (LTE) system newlinewhile supporting Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) and Machine-to- newlineMachine (M2M) communication can address QoS issues in high contention newlinetraffic scenarios. Deploying a new LTE Base Station (BS) or small cells such newlineas Pico and Femto cells in LTE network brings an additional cost to the newlinenetwork. Observing these cost-incurring solutions, alternative Wireless Local newlineArea Networks (WLANs) based network services can be incorporated to newlineoffload data while reducing the overload in the 4G networks. Authentication newlineof User Equipment (UE), LTE network, and WiFi Access Point (AP) is newlinesecurity requirement during data offloading because part of data is routed newlinethrough a third party public network. LTE-WLAN Aggregation (LWA) can newlinebe introduced by aggregating the service of LTE and WLAN to mitigate the newlinelatency and other QoS requirement of UE during offloading. LWA could be newlinesupported efficiently but must be updated for every new environment because newlineof the non-optimal aggregation triggers the network and demand for a newlinecentralized controller. To address the issue of seamless service in data newlineoffloading and LWA, Software Defined Networking (SDN) is implemented. newlineThe SDN logically centralizes, facilitates decision-making, and this nature newlinesupports data offloading in HetNets.. newline newline |
