Heterocyclic compounds have one or more heteroatom in the nucleus. They are two thirds of organic compounds and accounting for recent publications. Heterocyclic compounds are present in the natural products in the form of alkaloids, flavonoids and bio molecules etc., They are used predominately in pharmaceutics, polymer, dyestuff and agrochemicals. About 90% of the synthesized heterocycles are used as drugs and boundary between biology and chemistry deals new discovery and applications crossed by heterocyclic compounds. Heterocylces have shown considerable biological applications such as anticancer, antimicrobial, antibiotic, antihistaminic and anticonvulsant activities. Among the heterocyclic compounds, 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives are most important class of compounds for new drug development. 1,3,4-oxadiazole have been known for about 80 years and their biological activities strengthen only in the last decade. 1,3,4-oxadiazole showed a variety of chemical and pharmacological applications. Particularly, 2,5-disubstituted oxadiazole derivatives were found to possess antitumor, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-HIV, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic and anticonvulsant activities. newline
