dc.description.abstract | Bronze is an alloy primarily consists of copper in addition to newlineother ingredients. In most cases, the ingredient added to this is tin, but newlinephosphorus, aluminum, manganese, and silicon are also be used to achieve newlinedifferent properties in this material. Bronze are widely used in industries for newlinevarious engineering applications because of their combination of high newlinestrength, wear and corrosion resistance. At present, the improvement of newlineproperties on conventional materials are achieved by converting these as newlinecomposites which involves inclusion of hard ceramic or solid lubricant newlinereinforcement phase into base matrix. It is known that Metal Matrix newlineComposites (MMCs) are emerged as new class of materials in recent years newlineand presently considerable interests are shown in development and newlineinvestigation of copper alloy based composites reinforced with hard ceramic newlineor solid lubricant reinforcement such as Silicon Carbide (SiC), Aluminium newlineOxide (Al2O3), Graphite, Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2), Tungsten Disulfide newline(WS2) and Hexogonal Boron Nitride (hBN).In this present work, an attempt is made to investigate the effect of tungsten disulfide (WS2) particles addition on mechanical, wear and newlinemachining characteristics of phosphor bronze. The composites are fabricated newlineby stir casting technique with 4 %, 6 % and 8 % of WS2 particles. To confirm newlinethe uniform distribution of reinforcement phase, the microstructures of newlinecomposites are analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The newlinepresence of WS2 particles and other ingredients in the composites are ensured newlineby X-Ray Diffraction analysis. newline newline | |
