dc.description.abstractOne of the main objectives of organic and medicinal chemistry is newlinethe sensible design, synthesis and production of molecules having value as newlinehuman therapeutic agents. Organic molecules containing aromatic rings are newlinewidely distributed in nature and often play an important role in various newlinebiochemical processes. A number of such compounds find applications in newlinevarious fields ranging from drugs, medicines, dyes and so on. Structureactivity newlinerelationship studies often reveal chemical and biochemical reactivity newlineof these compounds and therefore alter their metabolism.In this work, about five series of (2E)-aryl enones such as 2-benzofuranyl, 3-chloro-4-nitrophenyl, 3-nitro-4-chlorophenyl, 2-pyrenyl and 3-phenanthryl chalcones have been synthesized by crossed Aldol condensation of substituted benzaldehydes and the above mentioned aryl newlinemethyl ketone using microwave irradiation and ultrasonic techniques with newlineFeCl3/Bentonite and Sodium hydroxide as catalysts. This thesis deals with the newlinesynthesis, characterization, correlation and biological evaluation of all the newlinesynthesized compounds. It consists of nine chapters. The first chapter newlineprovides the main aim of the work, research objectives, a literature survey of newlinethe present work and the framework for the whole thesis. Chapter two newlineelaborately discusses the various methods of characterization techniques used newlinefor this work. Chapter three discusses the materials and methods used for this newlinework. Chapter four provides the synthesis of substituted newlinestyryl 2-benzofuranyl ketone by ultrasonication method. newline newline
