Abstract: | Banking plays a pivotal role in the efficient utilization of national resources through lending, investing and transferring funds throughout the nation and even between the countries. Obviously, such role of banking is indispensable in a developing country like India, where there are many problems like poverty, scarcity of capital, lack of entrepreneurship etc. Sustainable banking practices are defined as the banks are taken phase in the development of financial progress at the same time preserving the newlinegreat of environmental and social techniques for the future generations. Sustainable banking practices tried to hold the atmosphere and biodiversity for future generations and store the usual assets and local weather. Sustainable banking practices additionally try to guarantee the persons about their future is affluent and free from poverty. Researcher identified the research gap that there is no exclusive study about the financial performance of public and private banks in Erode District and there is no exclusive study about the sustainable banking of public and private banks in Erode District. The research design used for the study was descriptive and analytical research and data were collected through interview schedule through questionnaire. Secondary data were collected from the published annual reports of selected public and private banks in Erode District. An interview schedule was conducted to collect the data from 429 customers (Out of 500). Hence the final sample size is 664(235 + 429) respondents.
