Abstract: A Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a network which consists newlineof group of mobile nodes that uses radio as communication channel. It is an newlineautonomous system which is configured, organized and controlled in an newlineindependent manner. Nodes in an ad hoc network moves arbitrarily. Due to newlinethe limited transmission ranges nodes in an ad hoc network cannot newlinecommunicate directly with each other. The movement of nodes in a network newlineresults topology changes that result in frequent route failures. Nodes in the ad newlinehoc network are operated by battery which has limited energy supply. If a newlinenode runs out of battery then the network lifetime is reduced which causes newlinenetwork degradation. Routing is the important key in MANETs. Hence, newlineEnergy Efficient Routing Protocol is preferred to improve the network newlineperformance. There are several routing protocols used to send data packets in newlinewireless Ad hoc networks in which Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector newline(AODV) Routing Protocol is the significant one. In AODV, when any source newlinenode wants to send a packet to a destination, it broadcasts a Route REQuest newline(RREQ) packet. The neighbouring nodes consecutively broadcast the packet newlineto their neighbours and the process continues until the packet reaches the newlinedestination. During the process of forwarding the route request, intermediate newlinenodes record the address of the neighbour from which the first copy of the newlinebroadcast packet is received. This record is stored in their route tables, which newlinehelps for establishing a reverse path. If additional copies of the same RREQ newlineare later received, these packets are discarded. The reply message is sent newlineusing the reverse path. For route maintenance, when a source node moves, it newlinecan re-initiate a route discovery proces newline newline
