Abstract: Natural fibres are drawing huge attention of researchers in the recent newlinepast and have become attractive alternative reinforcements to man-made newlinefibres due to their low density, availability, and low price as well as newlinereasonably good mechanical properties. These sustainable and eco friendly newlinefibres are being utilized in varieties of engineering applications. newlineIn several applications, failures occur in the regions where holes meant newlinefor fastening are present in the composite due to the stress concentration. newlineThis research work aims in reduction of stress concentrations and improving newlinethe interfacial shear strength. This could be achieved by chemical treatment newlineof fibres and locally hybridizing the natural fibre composite with artificial newlinefibre stitches and strips in the delamination prone areas. newlinePolymer composite reinforced with woven Jute Fibre (JF) and newlineSansevieria Cylindrica Fibre (SCF) have been considered for study in this newlineresearch. The Inter-Facial Shear Strength (IFSS) of both the fibres with the newlinepolyester matrix were tested using single fibre pull-out test. The newlineimprovement in the IFSS was achieved by the surface modification of the newlinefibre through chemical treatment with Alkali, Benzoyl Peroxide, Stearic acid newlineand Potassium permanganate. It was observed that the Potassium newlinepermanganate treated jute fibre has superior IFSS to that of untreated fibres. newline newline
