Abstract: | Flame stabilization in fuel air combustion has long been a subject newlineof significant technological interest for a variety of applications, such as gas newlineturbine combustors, afterburners, and industrial furnaces. The swirl and bluff newlinebody combustion are the two main flame stabilization techniques commonly newlineemployed in the gas turbine systems. Flame stabilization and blowout newlineconditions in high speed combustion have long been studied by many newlineresearchers with experimental set-ups.Even though the hypothesis of flame stabilization was developed by DeZubay in the year 1950 and flame blowout studies have been carried out for the last seven decades, the research in this field has not been completed in newlinemany aspects. The flammable limits and blowout limits for each fuel air newlinecomposition are still being analyzed for various inlet conditions, position of newlinethe fuel injector, position and shape of flame holder. Based on the reported newlineliteratures, it is understood that the significance of inlet flow conditions, newlineblockage ratio, flame holder shape, arrangement (straight and ring type) and newlineposition of flame holder and location of fuel injector are to be understood by newlineconducting a series of research in the field of bluff body combustion of newlinevarious fuels such as methane, propane etc., by burning at the right range of newlineproportions.. newline newline |
