Abstract: Solar photovoltaic thermal (PV/T) systems that convert solar newlineirradiation into electrical and thermal energy. These type of systems newlineincorporate photovoltaic cells, which converts the incident solar radiation into newlineelectrical power, with a thermal absorber, which captures the unwanted heat newlineenergy and expels waste heat from the PV module. The utilisation of both newlineelectricity and heat permits these systems to have higher energy and newlineconsequently higher efficient than solar photovoltaic (PV) system. The newlineincrease in solar radiation and ambient temperature increase the PV cell newlineoperating temperature considerably, and it significantly reduces the cell newlineefficiency and its life. By cooling the PV module using air or water, the newlineelectrical efficiency and life of the PV module can be improved and at the newlinesame time, the heat absorbed by the fluid can be used for room heating or newlinewarm water applications. This thesis proposes the analytical modelling and CFD simulation newlineof solar photovoltaic thermal (PV/T) systems in order to analyse the thermal newlineand electrical behaviour of the PV/T system. To achieve this, three modes of newlinemodels were developed viz., PV module with no cooling, PV module with newlinebottom air cooling and PV module with top water cooling newline newline
