Abstract: | The thesis presents Experimental and Numerical investigation on newlinethe behaviour of concrete deep beams as well as slender beams prepared using newlinereinforced concrete as well as with steel fibre. The length of the deep beam newlinewas 600 mm and width 80 mm with span to depth ratio of 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, and newline2.0. The size of the conventional slender beam was 2000 mm × 125 mm × newline200 mm. The conventional beams were reinforced with 12 mm steel bars as newlinesecondary reinforcement and 16 mm bars as main reinforcement on the newlinetension side. The plain concrete was reinforced with 0.5 mm diameter fibres newlinein respect of both categories of beams. The hooked end steel fibre of 30 mm newlinelength and aspect ratio of 50 were used. Concrete materials were weigh newlinebatched and mixed using a proportion of 1:1.5:3 with w/c of 0.49 in a newlinemechanical mixture to achieve a characteristic compressive of M20. The newlinespecimens were cured for 28 days. A total of 24 deep beams were cast in newlinethree series. Each series comprises of eight beams corresponding to span by newlinedepth ratio of 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, and 2.0. Beams in the first series consisted of newlineplain concrete (P series).
