Abstract: The development of valuable polymeric materials from renewable resources is quite significant from the economic and environmental points of view Phenolic and epoxy resins are widely used as polymeric materials because of their low cost ease of application, resistance to aging etc The wide range of composites prepared from phenolic and epoxy resins as matrix phases find applications in electronic automotive and aerospace industries However they have certain limitations at high temperature and environment concern Polybenzoxazines are quite new thermosetting phenolic resins with unique properties and they have the capability to overcome the shortcominggs of conventional phenolic resins With a great concern over the environment and cost now a days more research is being focused on the synthesis of newlinemonomers polymers and composites from renewable resource materials In view of the reasons stated above the main aim of the present study is to make use of the renewable agro based cardanol as starting material for the synthesis of benzoxazine monomers by an eco friendly solventless method and to develop polybenzoxazine composites using different types of reinforcements for high performance industrial applications Aromatic diamines like Caprolactam Diamine CPLDA Aliphatic Ether linked Aromatic Diamines AEnADA n =2,4 and 8 of varying alkoxy chain length Pyrene core Aromatic Diamine (PyBAPP) and Carbazole core Aromatic Diamines CPABDA were synthesized and used for the synthesis of cardanol based benzoxazine monomers newline newline
