Abstract: newline Multi-level inverter play a significant role in high power drive systems for induction motors. Interest in multi-level inverters started with the three-level, neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter. Now there are many topologies for higher number of levels such as the, flying capacitor and cascaded H-bridge etc. The advantage of multi-level inverters are the reduced voltage stress on the switching devices, lower dv/dt and lower harmonic content. The thesis entitled A NEW SIMPLIFIED MULTILEVEL INVERTER TOPOLOGY FOR DC-AC CONVERSION discusses the problems associated with multilevel inverter and their improvements possible in areas such as: newlineand#61656; Harmonic analysis in multilevel inverters newlineand#61656; Switching loss and its reduction newlineand#61656; Modification in hybrid 17- Level inverter newlineand#61656; Altering switching sequence to achieve good performance newlineand#61656; Inter connecting 33 level inverter with solar PV panel newlineand#61656; Different PWM techniques for reducing THD to conform to international standards newlineThe multilevel Inverter ( MLI ) is a Power-Electronic Circuit, which has used for the medium newlinepower and, high voltage applications. It is also having the advantages of lower total harmonic newlinedistortion ( THD ), lesser number of devices, low switching stresses, lesser number of DCsources and, reduce size of the passive filters . newlineThe proposed methodology in this research area makes use of the cascaded MLI, in which it newlineuses lesser number of switches while compared to other conventional techniques. Therefore, newlineproper switching sequence with the lesser number of switches in the circuit decreases the gate drive circuit complexity, with this inverter topologies are becoming compact hence the cost newlineis effectively reduced. To obtain the output waveform with less harmonic content we proposed the smaller MLI circuit blocks that are connected in series. newlineI
