Analysis and verification of optimal clamping and locator contact point surfaces of workpiece fixture system

Abstract

In modern engineering industry design and production of components are frequently changed according to the needs of customer within a very short span of time This leads to increase difficulty in maintaining the accuracy of every finished component It also induces a long setup time of the cutting tools and machine tools affecting the production rate of the components The accuracy of the finished workpiece strongly depends on the position of the locators and the clamps in the workpiece fixture system Most of the deformation occurs in the workpiece due to contact point elements clamps locators and other supports that are used in the workpiece fixture system very few deformations occur due to other elements used in the fixture system The primary goal of this research is to develop a model based framework for analysis and verification of optimal clamping and locators contact point on the surfaces of the fixture workpiece system
