dc.description.abstractThe phenominal augmentation of the computing technology era has connected all remote corners of the world The inordinate excrescence of the network of computers has unveiled the concealed elements of the universe bringing it to the lime light The globe swirls in ones palms with the internet unveiling all lock and stock of the social surroundings This panoramic access to all points has not only made our living comfort and cozy but also has brought grievous distress and anguish The computer network has become the prima face of the mankind We share all sensitive information through internet which attracts intruders and online attackers We are on the verge of safe guarding the internet as it has transformed into a play field for the illegal information looters Over the years innumerable means and methods for Intrusion Detection System IDS have been tried and tested by the stalwarts of the computing technology research his work has recorded almost all approaches developed so far for mitigating the intrusions with its advantages and drawbacks A practically successful Intrusion Detection System IDS is possible only if the best of two or more different approaches are utilised in building a Hybrid Network Intrusion Detection system H NIDS This way of integrating two or more detection techniques as one is called as cascading approach for designing IDS newline
