Abstract: Due to the potential applications of single crystals in modern newlineadvancing technology lots of researches are being carried out to synthesize newlineand grow the new crystals This thesis deals with the growth and newlinecharacterization of five crystals viz tetra thiourea cobalt chloride TTCC newlinetetra aqua diglycine magnesium II hexa aqua magnesium II bis sulfate newlineGMS ammonium malate AM bis nicotinamidium bis Dtartrate 125 newlinehydrate BNBDT and Larginine 4nitrophenolate 4nitrophenol dihydrate newlineLAPP newlineCrystal growth process crystal growth methods from solution newlinevarious defects imperfections in crystals nonlinear optics and nonlinear newlineoptical crystals are discussed newlineSingle crystals of TTCC were grown by slow evaporation solution newlinegrowth method The powder XRD study of TTCC crystal was carried out newlineand all the dominated peaks were indexed The single crystal XRD newlinemeasurement indicates that TTCC crystal crystallizes in tetragonal system newlinewith space group P4n From FTIR spectrum various functional groups newlinepresent in TTCC crystal were identified TGDTA analyses indicate that newlineTTCC crystal is thermally stable up to 110 C HRXRD study reveals that newlinethe crystalline perfection of TTCC crystal is fairly good Vickers newlinemicrohardness study indicates that TTCC crystal exhibits normal ISE newlinebehaviour The dielectric measurements of TTCC crystal reveal that both newlinedielectric constant and dielectric loss decrease with increasing frequency The newlinemagnetic study of TTCC crystal indicates that the crystal exhibits newlineparamagnetic behavior at room temperature newlineThe solubility of GMS compound was determined in water at newlinevarious temperatures Single crystals of GMS were grown by slow newlineevaporation solution growth method The powder XRD pattern of GMS newlinecrystal was recorded and well defined diffracted peaks were indexed The newlinesingle crystal XRD study indicates that GMS crystal crystallizes in triclinic newlinesystem with space group P newlineFTIR spectrum reveals the presence of various newlinefunctional groups in GMS crystal TGDTA analyses indicate that the newlinemaximum temperature of GMS crystal for its application is 100 C newline
