Abstract: ABSTRACT newlineThe aim of my thesis work was to explore the synthesis and characterization of nano-hexa-ferrites, AFe12O19 (A = Ba and Sr) and their applications in NIR color pigment and microstrip antenna for satellite communication. In this work various approaches were employed to obtain nanocrystalline AFe12O19; A = Ba, Sr materials for the new findings. Different techniques such as XRD, TG-DTA, FT-IR, NIR, PL, UV-vis, VSM, and HRSEM-EDX were used to characterize all the obtained materials. The phase stability and properties of AFe12O19; A = Ba, Sr materials are sensible to synthesis conditions and ball milling approach. The experimental findings on the thermal, micro-structural, optical and magnetic properties of AFe12O19; A = Ba, Sr materials have drawn interesting and many new results. Among the different methods followed for the synthesis of AFe12O19; A = Ba, Sr materials, we found sol-gel auto combustion method as better synthesis method compared with mechano-thermal synthesis and molten salt flux methods. The potentiality of the prepared materials for NIR reflectance in solar protective as well as color pigment applications is tested. From these investigations it is identified that the AFe12O19; A = Ba, Sr materials may be used as novel inorganic color pigment due to high NIR reflectance. Microstrip antennas are simulated for multiband radiation by using the momentum simulation method of Advanced Design System-2011.10. The fabricated antennas are tested using network analyzer. The results match with the simulated values with a little tolerance which is due to the error in fabrication. The design, simulation and fabrication of multi band microstrip antenna for X band and Ku band applications using nanocrystalline BaFe12O19 materials motivated us on further development in the satellite communication applications. newline
