Title: The Prevalence of Risk of Prodrome Psychosis In School Going Adolescents Of Gwalior Madhya Pradesh

Abstract: It has shifted how the individuals with these diagnoses Psychotic disorders are considered to be one of the most debilitating states with very high social, psychological and economic liability and costs (Deshpande, 2005) .The importance of prevention, early detection and early intervention has started gaining impetus only in last few decades in the emergence of Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry. Early identification and intervention in Psychosis, is even newer a developme nt which has led to further advancements in the concept of psychosis and the scientific as well as service related concerns associated with it (French and Morrison, 2004) are viewed from being labeled and seen as having inevitably very poor prognosis, to seeing the course of these disorders as fluid and subject to positive changes (Mcgorry, Killackey, and Yung, 2008)Matrials and method: Quantitative paradigm was followed for the study. The study was an exploratory research. It was a cross sectional prevalence study that and was descriptive in nature. This was done keeping in mind the paucity of time allotted with each student from the schools. Quota sampling, a non-probability sampling method was used. A total of four (04) schools of Gwalior participated in the study. The total number of participants was four hundred and six (406) male and female adolescents attending regular school curriculum. The number of male participants was one hundred and ninety nine (199), and the number of female participants was two hundred and seven (207). Results: The present study highlights a lot of important aspects like prodrome psychosis risk screening and early detection in general population, self reporting of symptoms, the distress experienced by the adolescents, help seeking behaviour of school going adolescents in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Lastly, the limitations posed by the present study shall be discussed. These aspects shall now be discussed in newlineDetail. Thus, there is a tremendous need for research in this domain to be able to understand the various facets.
