Abstract: | India has witnessed lot of startups coming up in last decade and rising in the newlineecommerce arena which is a mix of retail and technology. E-commerce has emerged newlineas one of big sectors providing huge employment opportunities. But, this sector on newlineone hand faces skill shortage and on the other, being able to retain the hired workforce newlineis a challenge for the organizations falling under the sector. Voluntary attrition rate is newlinecomparably high in ecommerce as compared to other major verticals in India despite newlinethe incumbents being paid competitive salaries as well as increments that are one of newlinethe highest amongst various verticals. Skill shortage and high attrition rate effects the newlineorganizational performance. On-boarding is the first step to get talent on-board. It is newlineevident from past researches that hiring practices and other human resource practices newlinework in combination that supports retention as well as brings out effective newlineperformance from hired incumbents. Hence, it is imperative for ecommerce startups newlineto have a talent acquisition strategy in place and follow effective practices to attract newlineand acquire the right talent while also working towards retention and further improvisation of performance of acquired talent. newline |
