The Role of Dalit Bahujans in the Political Movements of Separate State of Telangana 1969 2011

Abstract

The political movement for separate Telangana happened to be a continuous movement from 1956 until the formation of new state of Telangana in the year 2014. Telangana which was part of the erstwhile Princely state of Hyderabad until 1956 was formed in to Andhra Pradesh which was created by combining Telangana with Andhra state which was a part of earlier Madras Presidency. With the recent formation of new state of Telangana, there is need felt for examining the origins and evolution of a movement for separate state of Telangana and to locate the contributions of Dalitbahujans in these movements, how and why people from these communities come forward to be in the forefront of this movement.
