Abstract: Modern technologies based on optoelectronics acousto optics etc have newlineexploited the versatile properties of crystals Development of the crystalline newlinematerials is the backbone of modern technologies The search for new materials newlinewith high optical nonlinearities is an important area due to their practical newlineapplications such as optical communication optical computing optical information newlineprocessing optical disk data storage laser fusion reactions laser remote sensing newlinecolor display medical diagnostics etc This work discusses crystal growth of newlineCdBr2TPPO2 CdCl2TPPO4 LiCl2TPPO2 and CdBr2CdCl2 TPPO2 crystals and newlinetheir characterization newlineC r y s tal growth is the major stage of a crystallization process and newlineconsists in the addition of new atoms ions in a polymer stringing into the newlinecharacteristic arrangement of a crystalline Bravais lattice The compound CdBr2 newlineTPPO2 was synthesized from analytical reagent grade cadmium bromideCdBr2 newlineand triphenylphosphine oxide TPPO The calculated amount was dissolved in newlineabsolute ethanol Single crystals were grown from the saturated ethanol solution by newlineslow evaporation technique at room temperature and the crystals were obtained in newlineabout 20 days The compound LiCl2 TPPO2 was synthesized from analytical newlinereagent grade Lithium chloride LiCl2 and triphenylphosphine oxide TPPO The newlinecalculated amount of LiCl2 was dissolved in absolute ethanol The precipitate was newlineseparated and dissolved in DMSO Single crystals were grown by slow evaporation newlinetechnique at room temperature and the crystals were obtained in about 20 days newlineSimilarly CdCl2TPPO4 and CdBr2CdCl2 TPPO2 were grown newlineV a rious characterization techniques have been employed for studying newlinecrystals Some of the experimental methods of characterization employed were as newlinefollows X ray diffraction method where in the powder diffraction method the newlinediffraction patterns obtained by automatic scanning were recorded by the newlinecomputers newline newline
